“I was elected Chair of Wherry Housing Association Board in July 2010.
I am a portfolio non executive director and consultant, following a career of over 27 years in local and regional government. Previously I was Chief Executive of the East of England Regional Assembly and Chief Executive of two Scottish local authorities. I am currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, and a non executive director of the West Suffolk Hospital Trust. I also undertake bespoke consultancy work for a range of public and private sector clients on planning policy and international affairs.
I am delighted to be joining the Wherry Board at a challenging time for housing policy and delivery. Wherry already has an excellent track record for the quality of its services, its innovative approach to tenant and service user involvement, and the professionalism and friendliness of its staff. I am looking forward to building on the strong legacy which my predecessor Nicola Lucking has achieved and to working with the Board and Managing Director to achieve even better outcomes for our customers. I will also work to ensure that Wherry takes full advantage of the opportunities afforded through its strategic connections with the wider Circle Anglia group.”

“I have been a Wherry Board Member for over three years. I have found it an interesting and rewarding experience. My background has been in Social Services and I have seen first hand the massive and positive change that improvements in living conditions can bring.
This is true not only in the obvious physical sense but also emotionally and mentally. Improving the quality of peoples’ lives through their living environment is a vital factor in raising self-esteem and self-worth. It encourages residents to take control of and responsibility for their communities. This in turn leads to a safer, more settled and happier environment for all residents from the youngest to the eldest and the strongest to the most vulnerable. This is what I believe Wherry is striving for and this is why I feel privileged to be a Board Member.”

“Originally from London I have lived in Norfolk for over 13 years. I currently reside in South Norfolk with my wife and 2 children. I run my own Change Management consultancy based in South Norfolk. My experience covers Financial Services, Public Sector and the NHS. I think as a Board Member at Wherry I can act as a Critical Friend providing support to the management team and other colleagues as required. It is also our role to probe into performance, plans and strategy to ensure that ultimately whatever we do is always in the best interests of our residents.
In addition to my day job and my Board Member role at Wherry, I am a Parent School Governor and run half marathons … occasionally!”

“I joined the Wherry Board as a Resident Board Member in December 2008. I am currently employed as a senior advisor at Norwich Union in their Insurance department and have worked with NU for 10 years. Prior to this I ran my own brokerage company and have a long work history in financial services. I moved to the UK from Zimbabwe back in 1982 and now live in Norwich with my family. I feel that with my background and life experience I can contribute to the Wherry Board giving an understanding on issues such as disabilities (due to my wife’s disability) and an understanding on life having moved here from another country.”

I am currently Chairman of both Waveney Local Strategic Partnership and Waveney Economic Partnership, Vice-Chairman of Lowestoft College Corporation and also hold a number of non-executive positions on a variety of other private and public bodies in the East of England.”
