Rent

Pile of pound coinsThe income team works in partnership with local authority benefit departments, the CAB, the DWP and other voluntary agencies to ensure that tenants have the means and support needed to pay their rent.

In addition, the Money Matters Officer is able to provide free face-to-face advice to residents to maximise their incomes and advise those experiencing money problems.

The income officers are able to visit tenants in their own homes to discuss payment, benefit or debt issues. Where the team is unable to negotiate repayment of a debt to the Association, the income officers will pursue possession.

What does my rent pay for?

The rent you pay covers:

  • Responsive repair and maintenance costs - this includes works such as electrical and plumbing repairs, blocked drains and roof repairs.
  • Re-investment and improvement costs - this includes replacing kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors.
  • Management costs - this pays for your local housing management costs and central support services.

Paying your rent

It is important that we collect the rent that is due to us. If we do not, we will not be able to provide a service to our tenants or provide homes to people waiting for housing.

When you moved into your new home, you signed a tenancy agreement that requires you to pay your rent weekly in advance. Your tenancy agreement is a legal contract. If you do not keep to it, there are steps we can take to end your tenancy. Don’t let this happen to you!
