Moving Home

If you need to move out of your home you may qualify for a transfer. In this section you can find out more about transfers and the option of Mutual Exchange

You will need a specific reason for needing to move, which may include:

A medical condition or disability which means your home is unsuitable
Safety fears if you are being harassed or experiencing domestic violence
Overcrowding
Under-occupation
To be nearer to friends or relatives in order to receive or provide support
To move into sheltered housing for older people.

As homes are scarce, the most urgent cases are treated as a priority. Even if you fall into this category, you are still advised to consider all your options. If your case is less urgent, you could have to wait a very long time.

Old Ford Housing Association are partners in the common housing register at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets so all our empty properties are advertised weekly in the East End Life.

If you wish to move home within the borough of Tower Hamlets than you will have to complete and fill in a Tower Hamlets housing application form.

Mutual Exchange

Old Ford are part of an online house exchange scheme which is free of charge to Old Ford residents. The scheme enables residents to look for exchanges within the area and in other parts of the country.You can register for the scheme online at www.houseexchange.org.uk.

You can also exchange your home with other Old Ford residents through our own internal mutual exchange scheme. Pick up an application form from reception or contact the re-housing team on 0203 583 1550 (choose option 2).
