Circle Mobility Seminar

Fishy

Following on from our mobility campaign Circle recently hosted a seminar on mobility bringing together representatives directly involved in mobility from across the social housing sector.

We were joined by guest speakers Angela Raper, Head of Mobility at Communities and Local Government and Helen Williams, Assistant Director at the National Housing Federation.

Angela provided details on the latest Government position on mobility including the possibility of introducing legislation, whilst Helen shared findings from the Mobility Taskforce.

David Williams, Executive Director (Strategy and New Business) from Circle chaired the event and shared findings from our recently published report Counting Costs, spoke about the benefits of a mutual exchange service such as House Exchange, the importance of making better use of our collective assets and the need to look more at under-occupation.

Carol Carter, Group Regional Operations Director at Circle spoke about a Circle 33 Housing Trust initiative: Housing Advice and Options Service.

The delegates who were from housing associations and councils then took part in roundtable discussions, tackling the barriers preventing people from moving, the reasons why under occupiers don't want to move and ideas to increase mobility.
